How to Make Kratom Resin

Kratom resin is a dark brown, quite solid mass made from kratom fresh leaves which are boiled until the liquid completely evaporates and the kratom turns into a sticky mass. It is usually divided into parts of 15-20 grams each and can also be compressed into more compact single-dose slices (also known as kratom pies) or in bigger blocks that can be easily sliced.

Kratom Resin Extracts

Like other kratom extracts, kratom resin extracts includes a number plus an “x” indicating the concentration level of the product (e.g., 8x, 15x…). This number does not mean that the potency of the kratom is multiplied, it refers to the concentration level of the extract. For instance, a kratom resin extract of 4x (a very common concentration level) is made with 4 grams of kratom to obtain 1 gram of extract. It is important to note that the full spectrum of kratom alkaloids breaks in concentration levels of 20x or higher, so a very high concentrated kratom resin extract (like 50x) most likely will not be a full spectrum resin.

Keep in mind that kratom extracts (and therefore kratom resin extracts) are much stronger than raw kratom products, so make sure you take smaller doses to prevent developing kratom tolerance.

How to Make Kratom Resin Extract

Kratom resin is not easy to find, and there are only a few vendors who sell kratom resin. However, if you want to try kratom resin and are not able to find it, don’t panic! Kratom resin extract is very easy to make.

Tools

To make your own kratom extract, you will need:

  • 25 – 35 grams powdered kratom or kratom leaves
  • 2 liters of water
  • A cooking pot
  • A kitchen dish
  • A strainer
  • A spoon

Preparation

Put the kratom in a cooking pot containing 1 liter of water.

As soon as the water starts to boil, turn the heat slightly down and stir it every 2 or 3 minutes.

When half of the water has evaporated, separate it from the kratom (powder or leaves). Keep the water aside (do not throw it away!) and repeat the operation with the drained kratom product. Boil and stir it with a spoon until 50% of the liquid has been reduced.

Remove the kratom (you can now throw it away) and mix the two volumes of water.

Heat up the water until it boils and then wait until it reaches a syrup-like consistency.

Add the liquid to a dish and keep it in the fridge.

To know the exact concentration of your kratom resin extract, check how many grams of product you used to obtain 1 gram of the final product. For instance, if for 1 gram of kratom resin extract you used 4 grams of kratom powder or leaves, you have obtained a 4x kratom resin extract.

Taking Kratom Resin

One of the advantages of kratom resin extract vs. regular raw kratom is that you will be needing a much smaller amount of product to obtain the same effects. For instance, if you have a 5x kratom resin, you will probably need no more than 1/5 product of the amount you would use with raw kratom. Nonetheless, it is very recommendable that you buy yourself a mini-scale to check the exact dosage you are taking and to make sure you are not ingesting too high a dose that could end up in your body developing kratom tolerance.

There are many users who think that the effects of kratom resin take longer to be felt because resin must be first digested in the stomach. However, for many others, the difference is hardly noticeable.

How to Take It

disguise kratom's taste with honey

A great advantage of kratom resin extract is the taste. While there are a few users who don’t care about kratom bitter flavor, they are a minority. Kratom consumers tend to dislike its flavor and quite often they try to disguise it. Kratom resin has a much softer flavor and, since you will need a smaller amount, you will also feel the peculiar bitterness of kratom much less.

You can use your kratom resin to prepare a tea just by adding the kratom resin dosage to a cup of hot or boiling water. Once the kratom is dissolved you can also add ginger, honey, syrup or other sweeteners or spices to enhance the flavor. Since kratom flavor is not popular at all, many users share their own kratom tea recipes on the internet. So, you can find many choices and suggestions online. You can also prepare your own personal recipe and share it with other users.

If you prefer an easier way to take your kratom resin extract, you can cut the kratom resin block in small portions that you can take as capsules. By doing this, you can also carry the “capsules” with you in hermetic containers or pillboxes.

The Right Dosage of Resin

To know the right dosage of kratom resin for you, you need to consider the potency of the extract. For instance, if you are taking a 10x kratom resin it means that one gram of this extract will contain 10 grams of kratom leaves. If you are new to kratom, it is advisable to start with a 2-gram dose. This dosage will bring about a nice effect, but without the risks of causing side effects. In any case, regardless if you are a newbie or an experienced user, you shouldn’t take doses higher than 7-8 grams. Remember to take always into consideration the potency of the extract.

Kratom Resin Effects

The onset of kratom resin is very quick. You will start feeling its effects within 5 to 10 minutes after the intake. Furthermore, its effects can last for several hours.

As it is common with kratom and its products, a small dose will bring about energizing effects. On the contrary, larger doses will turn out relaxing and calming.

When consuming resin in small to moderate dosages, users report an increased feeling of happiness. Some also feel euphoria and a great boost of energy. On the other hand, when taken in high doses kratom resin acts as an opioid bringing painkilling and sedative effects.

Side Effects of Kratom Resin

Resin side effects include constipation, lack of appetite, dry mouth and lack of saliva. An extended use can also provoke anorexia, sleep disorder and a darkening of the skin, especially on the skin.
