Kratom Tea Recipe

Kratom can be ingested in many different ways: you can add it to a smoothie, consume it into capsules, chew its leaves or you can even toss and wash it. But undoubtedly the best way to enjoy all the alkaloids of kratom is by brewing it into a tea.

Contrary to what happens with opiates, whose alkaloids can be destroyed by heat, when kratom is infused with boiling or very hot water, its alkaloids (such as mitragynine, 7-OHM or mitraphylline) are fully extracted in the tea and the result is a shorter onset, longer lasting effects, and a more potent product. This happens because kratom is not an opiate and its alkaloids are not heat sensitive. Not only that, in fact, the processes for producing kratom extracts often includes boiling. Furthermore, kratom tea is gentler to your stomach.

In order to make kratom tea, the preferred option is powdered kratom. This is the easiest kratom format not only to prepare into a tea but also to blend with a liquid. Also, you can use different kratom strains in the same tea to achieve better results or to try new combinations and effects.

The Best Kratom Tea Recipe

This recipe is regarded as the best kratom tea. It will extract many more alkaloids than by simple boiling. It is very concentrated, almost as potent as a kratom extract. With these amounts, you will get between 10 to 12 regular doses of 4 – 5 grams each.

kratom tea recipe

Ingredients:

  • 50 grams of powdered kratom (you can use the strain you like best or combine several different strains)
  • 1-liter water
  • 1 lemon

Preparation:

  • Add the kratom powder to the water.
  • Make lemon juice and pour it into the mix.
  • Mix it all until the kratom is fully wet.
  • Put the mix in a container and place it in the freezer. Leave it there until it is almost frozen (the cold will break down the kratom powder and extract its alkaloids).
  • When the mixture is already icy, dump it into a cooking pot and heat it until it starts boiling.
  • Once is boiling, reduce the temperature half way and leave it in the kitchen stove until 3/4 of the water has evaporated (remember to stir it frequently!).
  • Pour the mixture into a jug until the kratom settles.
  • Pour the kratom mix in a glass covered with a muslin bag or clothe.
  • Once the kratom is settled, remove the muslin bag of the glass and squeeze it to obtain the maximum amount of liquid.

How to take the tea:

You will notice that once the tea is finished, the liquid will show a dark color, and it will be thicker when it is colder. Because of kratom bitter, not very pleasant taste and of the thick texture it acquires when it gets cold, many users recommend drinking it when it is warmed (not hot). Drinking cold kratom tea could turn out a bit harsh. Lemon juice will make it even more hard to swallow. But thanks to the citric acids of lemon, kratom alkaloids will be kept in their salt form, meaning they are more stable and will maintain all their properties. Having a sweet drink on hand to take after the tea will help you mask the taste of kratom.

It is not recommended drinking this tea on an empty stomach, before a meal if you have stomach issues or kratom causes you nausea. If you have a delicate stomach it is better to take your kratom tea after eating something.

How to Store Your Kratom Tea

Keep the tea in a closed container and store it in your fridge at a very low temperature (it is even recommended to lower your fridge temperature more than it usually is). Kratom tea can stay good in the fridge between 3 and 5 days. In any case, you’ll need to consume it before 7 days after making it, as kratom can build bacteria. It is wise to re-boil the tea before consuming it if it is older than 2 days to make sure it does not have any bacteria.

If you intend to consume your tea after longer periods, you should freeze it. Freezing your kratom tea will allow you to maintain it well for much longer.

  1. Hey. Thanks for recipe. I wanna ask about lemon and acids: what happened if I won ´t use them? I have GERD disease so acids aren´t really great option for me.

  2. I have a bag of dried kratom leaves. I have no idea how to make a good tea with them that will also taste palatable.
